Rural Development and Panchayath Raj (RDPR) :
Chief Executive officer, Zilla Panchayath is responsible for implementation of Mid day meal programme at district level and he is assisted by a class-I grade officer from Education department. Executive officer, Taluk Panchayath is responsible for implementation of Mid day meal programme at Taluk level and he is assisted by a group-B officer from Education department.
Health Department :
Apart from hot cooked mid day meal served to children, additional nutritional tablets are also provided. It is procurred and supplied to the schools in coloboration with Karnataka Drugs Logistics and Warehousing Society. Karnataka Drugs Logistics and Warehousing Society procures the tablets based on the indent placed by the Education Department, these tablets are supplied upto taluk level, in turn it is re-distributed to the schools.
Karnatka Food and civil supplies and consumer affairs department (KFCSC & CA) :
The Karnataka State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation and Consumer Affairs Department has the responsibility of supplying APL rice required for providing mid day meal to children of classes 9 and 10 standards.
Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation (KFCSC) :
The Karnataka State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation, Bangalore has been appointed as an agency to supply materials like edible oil, Double fortified salt, tur dal etc. required for this programme. The Karnataka State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation is responsible to supply edible oil, iodized salt, tur etc. to Taluk level under this programme. For smooth execution of the scheme without any disturbance the responsibility of supplying good quality food articles from time to time also rests with the Corporation. The Chief Executive officer Zilla panchayath is empowered to release two month's monetary demands to the Corporation to purchase the materials and to make subsequent payments according to the bills submitted by the Corporation without adjusting to the money paid in advance.
It is the responsibility of the FCI to ensure continuous availability of adequate food grains in its depots and in Prinicpal distribution centres. It will allow lifting of food grains for any month/quarter upto one month in advance so that supply chain of foodgrians remains uninterrupted.
For the MDM programme, FCI will issue food grains of the best available quality,which will in any case be at least of Fair Average Quality(FAQ).
District collectors will also ensure that foodgrains of at least FAQ are issued by FCI after joint inspection by a team consisting of FCI and Collector's nominee(s), and confirmation by them that the grain conforms to at least FAQ norms. FCI will keep samples of such foodgrains supplied by it for future verification and analysis.
